What is MS 365?

This is a significant upgrade, bringing brand new versions of the MS Office applications you use today, along with new features that will enhance communications for you and your team. This is an exciting development for SJOG, as we begin the journey towards standardisation on this powerful collaboration and meeting platform. It will mean a move to working in the Microsoft cloud, which will facilitate mobile working and allow for easier integration of smart devices and phones. Some of new and enhanced applications and features include:

MS Office in the cloud

MS 365 includes web and desktop versions of all the familiar Office applications as well as brand new cloud storage and collaboration tools, OneDrive and MS Teams.

Outlook upgrade

Outlook 365 offers everything you need to be productive and connected at home, in the office or on the go. The process of migrating your email from Outlook 10 to Outlook 365 will take some time. The process is outlined below.

MS Teams

Microsoft Teams is a collaborative workspace within Microsoft 365 that acts as a central hub for workplace conversations, collaborative teamwork, video chats and document sharing.

OneDrive

OneDrive is the Microsoft cloud service that connects you to all your files. It lets you store and protect your files, share them with others, and get to them from anywhere on all your devices.

Mobile device management

Microsoft Intune is a cloud-based service that focuses on mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM)

What happens next?

The ICT onboarding team will be in touch over the coming weeks informing you of scheduling dates and times, so that you can prepare for this upgrade. You have also been invited to a preliminary webinar presentation that will give a broad overview of the MS365 platform and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
